[Poison] Talk Dirty To Me (1987)

Poison, which has sold about 45 million albums since its formation in 1983, ranked lead vocalist Bret Michaels' name on the top spot in 1990's Sexiest Musician.

 

Like Cinderella, they were formed in 1983 in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA. The initial members were lead vocalist Bret Michaels (1963-), bassist Bobby Dall (1963-), drummer Rikki Rockett (1963-), and guitarist Matt Smith.

They went to Los Angeles, the center of metal music at the time, and had a lot of difficulties in the early days, but they continued their band activities by performing at famous clubs in the area.

 

At that time, guitarist Matt Smith returns to his hometown of Pennsylvania after becoming a father, struggling with the future of the band, and the realistic concerns of raising a child.

 

 So, they auditioned for a guitarist, and there were three musicians who came to audition. Slash, who later became a guitarist for Guns N' Roses, Steve Silva of the Joe Perry Project, and C.C. Deville, a guitarist from New York, will now work with a new guitarist, C.C. Deville. 

 

His real name is Bruce Anthony Johanneson.He liked the Cadillac Coupe DeVille, so he took the car name even from his stage name. Although he was a very good guitarist, he was also very good at writing songs.

Among Poison's songs, Talk Dirty To Me was written by C.C. Deville and participated in composing many Poison songs. Above all, he matched Poison's glam image well. Looking at their photos, they looked as pretty as possible with dark makeup, emphasizing a very sexy image.

 

C.C Deville showed off their outstanding guitar and songwriting skills, and they wrote their only Billboard Hot 100 #1 song, Every Rose Has Its Thorn, together with the rest of the Poison members. 

 

In 1990, he even played lead guitarist on another hit, Cherry Pie, by Warrant, a heavy metal band led by Jani Lane, who was also acquainted with Bret Michaels. However, he had frequent clashes with lead vocalist Bret Michaels, and at the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards he was originally supposed to play Unskinny Bop, but Deville played Talk Dirty To Me. 

Because of this, he even had a fistfight with Brett Michaels backstage. After receiving an offer to leave Poison, Richie Kotzen (1970~) took the place of C.C. Deville.After leaving Poison, he worked as a soloist, and in 1998 he formed a band called Samatha 7 and continued to work until 2004.  Two of my favorite Poison songs are Talk Dirty To Me. And Every Rose Has Its Thorn.

 

Talk Dirty To Me literally means to give me 'a dirty baby, and it's not explicitly in the lyrics, but I want to enjoy it with a woman'. As the lyrics of the 1979 song by Bugles put it, it really feels like a Video Killed Radio Star. It was also the first poison single song to enter the US Top 40 chart and #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 weekly due to its good record sales. It is also a song that received platinum certification (1,000,000 copies sold).
